Never, ever stop learning.
We work for clients ranging from tiny nonprofits to Fortune 50 tech companies, doing things ranging from speculative visualization design to architecting web scraping and processing systems distributed across many machines. This means we need to keep our skills sharp and be nimble learners, absorbing new concepts and good practices quickly and teaching them to each other.
You take the reins.
There is not a ladder to climb here. From early on you will be viewed as a peer and given opportunities to lead and shape the future of the company and our projects, whether that's by taking on an internal role improving Datascope, or on work for our fabulous clients.
Spend time on what you care about.
When you start at Datascope, you'll get time the first 3 months to design and work on a passion project of your choosing. After that, pretty much all Datascopers find time to spend on open source projects, internal apps, posts for our blog, pro bono engagements, conference talks, local meetups, and other things that they're excited about.
Own it.
Datascopers who "act like an owner", investing time and changing the company for the better, will find themselves becoming one— Datascope offers a path to becoming a partner in the company. Unlike a traditional firm, there's no monetary investment required. As a partner, you gain ownership proportional to the time you put in and the growth the company sees during that time.

You're going to love Chicago. There's extraordinary food, great music and museums, exquisite architecture, storied sports teams, beautiful parks and lakefront, and summer festivals galore. Most Datascopers don't own cars— extensive transit and bike infrastructure make the commute easy. And the cost of living is lower than comparable cities on the coasts.

We know we can do more together than individually, so we've built our team carefully over time. Which is sometimes about whether a tea candle can boil half a cup of water, or the variables at play when preparing coffee.
